BARBARA LEMPEL For the past fifteen years Barbaraās primary role in theater has been costume design. She has worked in Los Angeles, New York, Massachusetts and Iowa. Los Angeles has been home since 2000, and her projects here include: SPLENDOR, A 99¢ ONLY STORES WONDERAMA (Garland Award winner with co-designers Ann Closs-Farley and Anthony Garcia), SKIN OF OUR TEETH and PENTECOST (all Evidence Room), THE COSMONAUTāS LAST MESSAGE TO THE WOMAN HE ONCE LOVED IN THE FORMER SOVIET UNION (Open Fist Theater), STEEL: JOHN HENRY AND THE SHAKER (Inside the Ford), EXCAVATE THE MONSTER (24th Street Theater), CARROTS FOR HARE (Powerhouse Theater), CLYT AT HOME: THE CLYTEMNESTRA PROJECT (Theater of NOTE÷designed costumes, set, and lights) and six independent films. Prior to moving to Los Angeles Barbara worked in New York City. Her favorite credits there include TRAPPED IN SEVEN by Fay Simpson (Here, The Actor's Studio, and theaters in London and Colorado), NATURAL CHILD, QUIET STORMS, and STRAIGHT AS A LINE (SoHo Rep Theater), and AGAMEMNON (La MaMa Etc.). She spent a season as the assistant costume designer at The Pearl Theater in New York City, and a season at the Des Moines Metro Opera as an electrician. Barbara is a graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts.
